Generative AI

A model that makes new things

The story: A musician who has listened to thousands of songs can sit down and write a new one. They're not copying any single song; they learned what makes music work. Ask them for a lullaby or a wedding song and they can do it on the spot, without going back to music school.

In AI/AWS terms: Generative AI is a subset of deep learning that creates new content, such as conversations, stories, images, video, music, and code, from patterns learned in training. It can adapt deep learning models to new tasks without retraining or fine-tuning them.

The rest of this course covers its capabilities, its challenges, how to choose a model, and how to measure business value.

For the exam: Generative AI creates new content and can take on new tasks without retraining or fine-tuning.
